Empowerment 2014 – Recipe for Success
The 21st annual Empowerment conference has been scheduled for Friday, September 19th at the New Orleans Marriott at the Convention Center, located at 859 Convention Center Blvd.
This free educational conference, designed for consumers and providers, helps to bring the latest information on HIV/AIDS to our community. Every year, Empowerment covers a wide variety of topics related to HIV and AIDS ranging from legal considerations, to medical, social and psychosocial aspects of the disease.
Plenary Speaker: Mark S. King
Mark S. King has been speaking and writing about living with HIV since testing positive in 1985. He is the author of A Place Like This, his chronicle of the dawn of AIDS in Los Angeles, and is the creative force behind the popular site, MyFabulousDisease.com. He attributes his good health to three things: a strong partnership with his doctor, being in a loving relationship, and double chocolate brownies made from scratch.
To find out more about the conference, please call Lisa Breland at 821-2601, ext. 209 or Major Smith at ext. 232. You can also download the 2014 Empowerment Brochure here, as well as a schedule of events.
