To improve the quality of life for LGBT people and our allies in greater Baton Rouge through education, communication, advocacy and community building.
History
In January 2000, several members of the Baton Rouge business community convened for the first meeting of the Capital City Alliance (CCA). Since that time, CCA has grown into a community-based organization working to achieve the mission stated above. Since its inception, CCA has been involved in a number of community related activities.
In 2001, CCA recognized the need to become an organization with a civic rather than political purpose. CCA strives to be involved in all aspects of community life, including governmental processes that affect the Baton Rouge Community, particularly those that impact the lives of the community’s gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender citizens. CCA will continue to work with other progressive organizations in Baton Rouge, across the state, and nationally to achieve our mission and goals.
Governance
Capital City Alliance is governed by a Board of Directors and represents a constituency of approximately 60,000 gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender citizens living in the capitol region. We are business owners and professionals, students and workers, mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters; people from all walks of life. We are also homeowners, taxpayers, and voters. We are valuable members of the Baton Rouge community.
