Committees Established at the August 10, 2009 LGBT Community Meeting
Four committees were created on August 10, 2009, to help steer the future of LGBT activities in greater Baton Rouge:
1. Communications Committee will work on promotions, public relations, speaker training, a speakers' bureau, and website development/maintenance.
2. Education and Advocacy Committee will look at building relationships with state and national lobbying organizations as well as identifying opportunities to meet with local elected officials and policy makers to make them aware of the sizeable LGBT population in Baton Rouge and what our issues and concerns are.
3. Outreach and Recruitment Committee is charged with a number of fun and important tasks, including compiling a LGBT-owned or –friendly business and professionals directory, identifying opportunities for social activities and fundraising, networking with other organizations, and making the entire LGBT community aware of our activities.
4. Administration Committee will focus on organizational, structural, and legal issues to move the organization forward and effectively serve Baton Rouge’s LGBT residents and visitors.
Participation in each committee is open to the public. We encourage everyone to get involved! We promise to make participation fun, educational and rewarding. Please e-mail info@ccabatonrouge.org and indicate which committee you would like to participate on.
